My name is Kevin Rattan, and I have been a Learning Tree Instructor since 2001–initially just in the UK, but now also in the USA. I am a citizen of both countries, and divide my time between Boston, MA and Rossendale, Lancashire.
I began developing Web applications last century, and set up my own development company in 2000. Since then I have developed Web sites and applications for organizations ranging from international charities with locations in more than 100 countries to small mom-and-pop businesses.
I teach in the Web development and .NET curricula, act as a Technical Editor and am also the author of three Learning Tree courses:
I became a developer because I fell in love with Web programming. I still get a huge kick out of coding, and am one of those fortunate people whose hobby became their profession. (Before becoming a developer, I spent 10 years working in television production–in every job from script writer to camera, and sound operator.) Writing code is like being paid to play games – and it’s a pleasure to share the fun with Learning Tree students in classes all over the US and Europe. There’s no question in my mind that teaching Web development has made me a better programmer. I have learned so much from my students, from my fellow instructors–and just from having to think about technology much more deeply in order to explain it.
If you have attended one of my courses, hello again! If not, I hope to see you at Learning Tree in the future.
