Updates to PMI’s Program Management Professional (PgMP®) Credential Exam

Heads up, everyone! PMI’s Program Management Professional (PgMP)® credential will be updated on 1 February 2012. This update to the exam and other pieces and parts of the certification are based on updates made to the role of a PgMP® found in PMI’s Role Delineation Study (RDS). As many of you know only too well from your exam experiences, the PgMP® RDS is the foundation on which the credential is based.

In a nutshell, here’s what’s changing about the certification exam:

  • The new PgMP exam has will be released on 1 February 2012.
  • The last day to take the current PgMP examination will be 20 January 2012.
  • Candidates who take the exam after 1 February will receive exam reports by the end of May due to time needed to validate the new exam structure.
  • Candidates will not be able to sit for the PgMP exam between 21 January and 31 January 2012.

And here’s what’s changing about the new exam application:

  • The PgMP application will also be changing on 1 February 2012.
  • The current PgMP application will remain available until 31 January 2012.
  • New PgMP applications will start to be processed on 1 February 2012.
  • The new PgMP application adds five new Experience Summaries to the 8 existing ones  in the current application.

Be sure to take all of these changes into consideration when applying for or scheduling your certification exam.  For more information, please reference the PMI website.
