Microsoft Word has some very powerful hidden features that allow you to use the software much more efficiently. We have all been using the Mouse to navigate our documents for decades. But there is a real benefit of using the combination of the Keyboard and Mouse at the same time. Here are some examples.

Here are some quick tips for using Microsoft Word that will save you time and make your documents more impressive.

Select a Paragraph

To select an entire paragraph make three rapid clicks anywhere in the paragraph. You can then manipulate the entire paragraph to change the font or copy it for example.

Select a Sentence

Ctrl + click selects sentence. Click anywhere in a sentence while holding Ctrl key down will select the sentence.

Create a Horizontal Line

To create a horizontal line type 3 hyphens and then press Enter

Instant Subscript or Superscript

To change the font of a single word simply click on the word then press Ctrl+ makes a word subscript and Ctrl Shift + makes a word superscript.

Delete the whole Word

By pressing backspace while holding Ctrl key down you can quickly delete the preceding word.

Paint that Text

Use Format Painter feature to quickly apply a particular format to a new area.

Generate Random Text

Typing =rand(8,10) and then pressing Enter will automatically generate random text you can use for testing the page formatting, fonts, etc.

Go Back to Where you Were

To move cursor to the location where it was when you last save the document press Shift + F5

Increase or Decrease the Font Size Quickly

Select some text -now if you will press Ctrl + Shift + > the font size of the selected text will increase. To decrease the font size use Ctrl + Shift + < combination

Instant Table – just add Cells

To quickly create a table type a plus sign (+) then press Tab key; again type a plus and again press Tab key; do this as many times as the number of cells you want in your table. Then press Enter. And table shall appear!
